OUR RATING: Do It!

Planning a huge day of exploring and adventuring around Amsterdam is good and all, but one must remember to eat! We decided to try out Lotti’s at The Hoxton in Amsterdam, a brasserie-style restaurant with a comfy vintage vibe, canal-side tables and a beautiful glass roof, not to mention a delicious menu, yummy sounding cocktails, and energising lattes. The Hoxton is an open-house hotel chain with establishments in Barcelona, Paris, Rome, many cities in the US, and right in our own backyard in London!

We paired our visit to this Herengracht canal-side eatery with a nearby explore around De 9 Straatjes and a visit to the Anne Frank House, so we definitely needed a good amount of food to get us through a busy morning. Since it was quite a hot day we went for their refreshing homemade kombucha and orange juice, and while these were chock-full of flavour, we regret not also trying some of their unique sounding not-coffees like their raw cacao and iced charcoal lattes. Ah well, next time!

We decided to try a bit of savoury and a bit of sweet, so went for their French toast with brioche, mascarpone, and blueberry, as well as their smoked salmon on toast with brioche, cream cheese, dill, capers, chives, and salmon caviar. Sounds fancy, but their dishes are actually super affordable considering they’re in a hotel in such a lovely area of the city. The French toast was to die for, so soft and creamy, and was our favourite of the morning. The smoked salmon was a little less exciting, albeit still delicious, especially the lovely dill cream cheese. But next time we want to try their avocado toast with poached eggs which everyone around us seemed to be ordering. We guess we’ve got a whole new meal on our horizon next time we visit!

Final Thoughts: Lotti’s may not be the first place you think to eat during a whistle-stop tour of Amsterdam, but it’s a lovely place with delicious food that will keep you going all day, and we can’t wait to visit the other Hoxton Hotel locations around the world to see what they’ve got in store!
