OUR RATING: Do It!

The whimsical and imaginative have always held deep appeal for us, and so when we were invited to experience Bubble Planet before the general public we dove right in! The London iteration of what is fast becoming a worldwide immersive phenomenon, Bubble Planet mixes the playful joy of rollicking through meditative scenescapes that evoke an almost dreamlike state, whilst also providing an instructive look at the bubbles themselves through the lens of both science and the arts.

The experience, laid out across approximately ten rooms, allows visitors to explore at their own pace and introduces you into another world where everything (and we mean everything!) revolves around the rainbow hues of the humble bubble. Beginning in a room slung with calming bubble-bags illuminated with an array of LEDs, you’re quickly transported under the sea to a beautiful expanse reaching out to infinity which literally allows you to interact with the various creatures upon each surface.

Next we ventured into a swimming pool-like space completely full of balloons – free to swim through the bubble-like latex spheres surrounding an inflatable sci-fi-esque flower which continually blossomed before our eyes. What’s so great about all of these spaces is that you can come and go as you please and spend as much time as you’d like in each one, making it not only a fun but very relaxing and beautiful experience. The immersive soundscapes add a lovely layer of depth, with each room complete with its very own soundtrack that will transport you inside this new world of bubbles.

One of our favourite rooms was a geodesic dome, which not only had bubble projections on its outside, but also invited us inside and under its dome for an entirely different experience. Invited to lay on beanbags, we spent ages looking up at the beautiful iridescent projections surrounding us on all sides, and with a relaxing bubble soundtrack pillowing us its frothy effervescence.

If you’re there for your latest Insta-look, Bubble Planet has your back, with another room full of mini-bubble inspired backgrounds, from duck bubble baths to a swingset in a cloud, and even the opportunity to place yourself within the interior of a giant sparkling bubble.

An infinity room, with bubble lights strung into the very distance leads you into a VR chamber (available at additional cost). Once you’re strapped into your bubble shaped hanging chair, you’re off on an adventure which takes you from a peaceful pergola where water babbles from the mouths of stone lions, across (and into) the oceans, and even to the sands of Egypt. We’d recommend you choose a chair that hangs high enough that your feet don’t touch the ground, so you can feel like you’re really soaring.

Your adventure concludes with the spellbinding Bubble Effect Room. In it, you can watch a sophisticated robot construct huge bubbles which float down towards you, take a selfie with smoke-filled bubbles, or even be encased in a bubble itself!

Final Thoughts: We were thoroughly impressed by both the scale and immersiveness of Bubble Planet. Don’t move quickly through the experience as you’ll want to soak up every second of the ambience, which is both relaxing and inspiring in equal measure. Bubble Planet is great for all ages, whether it be families with their children, mum and baby groups, Insta days out, or even a date nightThe best immersive experiences make you truly believe what you’re seeing is a fully realised world, and Bubble Planet surely succeeds in this, providing a beautiful hour of mind-changing adventures.

P.S.: We concluded our quest in the well appointed store area, providing all the fabulous bubble-themed merch you could ever want. We were also treated to delicious bubble tea and bubble waffles, but we’re not sure these offerings are always available. Yum!
